Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our Psychologists offer appointments from Monday to Friday. These appointments can be booked by calling us on 02 4929 4882. We are able to offer both in-room appointments at our Newcastle and Canberra clinics, online via zoom or over the phone.

  • Dependent on the type of service you are after (i.e. Fitness for Duty or general psychology), the cost will vary. Our clinic also offers After Pay to assist with payments.

  • Psychologists are registered for Medicare rebates. We are not a bulk billing Practice. Sessions require payment in full.

  • This will vary for each individual and will be discussed at your first consultation in more detail.

  • Here at Med-Psych, we can assess for a range of psychological diagnoses. Dependent on the purpose of the assessment our psychologist can assess for diagnoses such as Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, Depression and so much more.

    New clients are to complete an initial assessment. Here, we recommend you provide as many documents to support your assessment. The more we are provided, the more of an accurate diagnosis we can provide. Documents such as medical reports, school reports/teachers’ letters, background information, and any previous diagnostic testing previously completed.

    Post-initial, your Psychologist will be able to confirm the diagnostic testing required for your assessment and discuss in your follow-up appointment.

    Once your report has been completed, our wonderful admin staff will be in touch to confirm and send the final copy. If you have reviewed your report and still require further clarity, we can organise a final consult to discuss your report in further detail.

  • Your initial consult is a standard $250. However, the costs of your comprehensive can vary dependent on the individual and the testing that is required. Clients are recommended to contact our office for further information.

  • Yes, all you need to do is contact our reception and we will schedule you in for your initial consult. Once this is completed, please be aware one of our Psychologists will be in touch in the lead up to your appointment to discuss and complete a Service Agreement.

  • Refer to our Contact page. You can call, email, or fill in an inquiry form for us to discuss your initial consult. Once we have scheduled your initial, a booking confirmation email will be sent out with new client info and a consent form attached. These forms allow our Psychologists to get a better idea of the key areas you would like to address. Any referrals or diagnostic testing provided can also assist with getting the most out of your appointment.

  • We operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you can no longer make your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. We kindly ask all patients to respect this policy so we can continue to provide high-quality service and allow others on our waiting list to fill the sessions.

    If you are late arriving for your appointment, the time for the consultation will be reduced accordingly. There will be no corresponding reduction or refund in the fee. Note that late arrivals more than 15 minutes after the allotted clinic time will be treated as non-attendance.

  • Our expert team sees patients with a range of conditions and clinical needs. We have a high level of expertise to manage these. If we feel this is not within our abilities, we shall consult our medical doctor on-site or refer you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
